Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) Knights Volleyball team's defensive specialist/libero, Armoni Harris, has been recognized as the HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Defender of the Week for Week 2 of the conference volleyball awards. The award, announced by the conference office on Monday, honors outstanding performances from matches played between August 19-25.
Harris' defensive play was a key factor in the Knights' consistency at the net during the University of Mobile Tournament. Over the course of the four-match weekend, she recorded an impressive 51 digs, providing SUNO with the defensive stability needed to remain competitive. Harris also displayed exceptional skill in passing, committing only six reception errors out of 95 attempts.
Her standout performance came in the match against Florida Memorial University, where she achieved a match-high 19 digs, showcasing her ability to read the game and quickly react to opponents' attacks. Harris averaged 3.92 digs per set throughout the tournament, a figure that currently leads the HBCUAC, further cementing her status as a defensive powerhouse.
