SUNO Volleyball Invites You to Family Day

SUNO Knights Volleyball Hosting Family Day on October 5

New Orleans, LA [October 3, 2024] — Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) Knights Volleyball proudly presents Family Day, to be held during the Knights' match against conference rival Wiley University on Saturday, October 5 at 1 p.m. Family Day provides a special opportunity for the community to come together and support the Knights in a fun and family-friendly environment.

Groups of five or more can attend the match for just $5 per person, making it a perfect outing for friends and family. Additionally, a family pack is available for $40, which includes four tickets, four beverages, and four snacks, offering great value for fans who want to enjoy the game and concessions. Admission is cashless and accepts any tap payment system. 

SUNO Volleyball Head Coach Zipporah Washington, a proud New Orleans native and SUNO alumna, emphasized the significance of local support for the team. "Growing up in New Orleans, I know how important community is, especially when it comes to sports," Washington said. "Having our families and the broader community in the stands means everything to our players. It gives them that extra motivation to play their hearts out. Family Day is a great way for us to celebrate that connection and show how much we appreciate our supporters."

SUNO Director of Athletics James A. Matthews, III echoed this sentiment, highlighting SUNO Athletics' ongoing commitment to engaging with the community. "At SUNO, we believe in the power of sports to bring people together, and Family Day is one of many efforts we're making to reach out and strengthen those bonds. It's these types of initiatives that helped SUNO earn the NAIA's highest honor for character and community service, the Champions of Character Gold Five-Star award, this year," said Matthews. "We're not just invested in the success of our teams on the court, but in making a positive impact on the community as a whole."

The match will take place at The Castle, SUNO's home gymnasium, with doors opening at 12:30 PM. Don't miss out on this exciting day of volleyball, food, and community spirit!
