Bio

Destinie Smith was hired to be the Head Women’s Basketball coach in 2021. She is known for her 100% graduation rate among athletes, working to help students be successful on and off the court.  Before coaching the Knights, she spent time at Troy University in Alabama where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Sports and Fitness Management in 2014 and also earned her Master of Science in Athletic Administration in 2016.

She also spent some time on the hardwood as a player. Smith was a walk-on for the University of Georgia in 2008 and also played basketball semi-professionally for two years in Georgia.

Now as a coach, she works to manage the team budget and coaching staff, recruits and develops student-athletes, and oversees the academic progress and graduation of student-athletes.

Smith also serves as a Senior Woman leader for SUNO Athletics, providing insight regarding new policies for department.
