Ramirez Overwhelms Panthers, Named GCAC Pitcher of the Week
NEW ORLEANS—The conference office announced Monday afternoon that junior pitcher Noah Ramirez has been named Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Last week, Ramirez helped the Knights sweet conference foe Philander Smith University in a GCAC series that pushed the Knights to third place in the league.
Against the Panthers on April 6, Ramirez pitched a complete game, striking out a career-high 8 batters and walking just four of the 28 batters he faced. He also assisted on four plays. In the seven-inning contest, Ramirez allowed just two extra-base hits, helping the Knights secure the 6-5 win over the Panthers.
Ramirez is now seventh in the conference for total strikeouts (31). He has also kept batters to a .225 batting average while on the mound this season.
The Knights, who swept the Panthers over the weekend, move to third in GCAC, sitting at 9-5 heading into the final two weeks of conference play.
