NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. [May 1, 2025] - SUNO Knights Baseball defeated the No. 3 Stillman Tigers in the quarterfinals of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) 2025 Hope Credit Union Baseball Championship. After an overnight weather delay on Wednesday, the Knights and Tigers resumed play Thursday morning in the bottom of the eighth inning with Knights leading 8-3. Despite a push by Stillman in the bottom of the ninth, the Knights held on to win 8-5.
The No. 6 Knights entered the tournament on the heels of a rough patch, but as Head Coach Olen Parker said, the important piece in competing is making the championship tournament.
"We started the year 0-8, then went on a streak and we were 20-10," said Parker. "When you have a lot of young guys, you have to learn how to win, and to end the regular season, we struggled to win close ball games. It was a long night, but we had a nice cushion coming out of the suspended play. Stillman got the two runs when we resumed play, but we found a way to get the third out in the eighth and then put them out 1,2, 3 in the ninth to win the game. It feels good to get the victory, and now our kids can rest and get ready to play again tomorrow."
Miles Bowens led SUNO with two RBI on two hits. Enrique Herazo, Jr., Avery Spriggs, and Dylan Jimenez all added one RBI against the Tigers. Damian Lantigua and Kerrigan Edmondson led the Knights on the bases, each scoring two runs.

As a team, SUNO collected nine hits and five RBI.
With the win Thursday, the Knights improve to 22-23 overall. They move on to play Wiley University on Friday at 8:30 a.m. Fans can watch the game live on Urban Edge Network.
