Knights Women’s Basketball Secures Key Wins, Improves Conference Record

NEW ORLEANS [JANAURY 13, 2025] – Southern University at New Orleans (SUJNO) Women's Basketball has been on the road since the turn of the new year, and after six straight losses, they went 3-1 in conference play to improve to 6-13 overall and 4-6 in the HBCU Athletic Conference. The improvement includes dominating wins over Voorhees University (73-65) and University of the Virgin Islands (93-63).
Jordan Harris was a star on the court this week. She averaged 21.3 points per game, going 18-37 from the field, including 11-23 from beyond the arc, to dump in 64 points against the Knights' three opponents. Harris also grabbed 10 rebounds and dished eight assists to lift the Knights to a 2-1 week.
Transfer guard Tierra Sylvas continues to shine in her debut season with the Knights. In Saturday's game against the Buccaneers, she raked in 20 points, six rebounds, three steals, and three assists in the Knights' 93-63 rout. She ended the week with 10 assists, five steals, and 15 rebounds.
Freshman Kyren Wilson has been a consistent force for SUNO. In three games, she had 33 points on 14-30 shooting from the field. She added 15 rebounds, five assists, and seven steals. Wilson dumped a career-high 24 points on UVI, and now has 180 points in her first year.
